Home » HAUTBOXx Remix Series ends with a big-name bang to start off 2025: with the mighty Alexander Technique alongside label head c-HAUTEM on the final EP
Marking a sub-genre split for the series from commercial peaktime to more underground noir, the final remix EP is an intense high-profile close off with techno titan Alexander Technique alongside label head c-HAUTEM bringing 140bpm bangers.
Pure busyness from the start, c-HAUTEM’s remix is definitely the most hectic of the lot. Feeling like it’s at a higher tempo than the others, the original samples are futuristically distorted, and synth pads very cleverly altered to make this one a banger that never really slows down.
As head honcho of HAUTBOXx, c-HAUTEM certainly knows a thing or two about arranging synth pads brilliantly and keeping things busy and intense throughout – making this one perhaps the best to play out at that time of the night when people are at their highest level of energy and intoxication.
Self-described as a “modular masterpiece”, this really does pull out all the stops, and although not leaving you much of a break, shows that he’s put a lot into it. With so much going on, our favourite part is about two-thirds in, when the drums get pumped up a gear to a level that you wouldn’t even imagine existed.
c-HAUTEM certainly has not sat back on this, and we’re looking forward to whatever fast-paced and frantic stomp sessions he’ll be bringing this year. With his heated thumper being released alongside techno legend Alexander Technique’s remix (more on that below), HAUTBOXx are certainly starting the year off with a bang.
Last but certainly not least we have techno legend Alexander Technique bringing his audio production expertise to close off the series with impact, and an impact it’s certainly made! This icon in the scene has woven the original banger into his own dark thumper that quite literally feels like an echoey journey down the rabbit hole from the very beginning.
Booming, hard, rigid kick drums pound away in what have been quite the hallmark of this series so far. Alex expertly rearranges the synths and samples from the original into his own relentless floor-shaker, making it fairly distinguished from DRUMSAUW’s original.
Pretty much from the beginning the track feels like it’s going up from one level to the next, until it reaches an enormously intense final minute; perhaps less of travelling down a rabbit hole and more travelling up a high-rise skyscraper.
It matches the busyness and intensity of c-HAUTEM’s dark techno stomper, cementing a perfect genre split between the slightly more upfront commercial remixes at the beginning to the more messy, underground, noir remixes at this end of the series.
Right at the end the track feels like it’s dropping in intensity somewhat, while a piercing crystal synth pad warms up right in the final seconds. This serves as a clever caveat for DJs looking for a seamless and engaging mix into the next track.
