ON ROTATION: L-Side, Makoto & Frank H. Carter III What You Won’t Do For Love

For people who like…drum & bass, rare groove, jazz

V Recordings titan L-Side teams up with Good Looking’s Makoto and Frank H Carter III (known for his previous collabs with Ivy Lab and Move that came out on V earlier this year) to bring a 70’s Bobby Caldwell classic back with a bang!

The opening guitar chords and “la la la la” vocals tease you with what you know is surely coming? That soulful Bobby Caldwell chorus (well known through 2pac and other’s sampling), from his classic ‘What You Won’t Do For Love’.

The charm offensive continues as the synths and “hey heys” get injected over the rolling drums and subbass notes, until the full vocal verses of this summertime anthem finally get set free.

This has been road tested across multiple continents – on beaches at Sun & Bass as well as clubs worldwide – but is now finally being let out for general consumption across the globe by the V Records bosses.

If you don’t end up with this stuck in your head, then I would have to ask did you even listen? As this jazzy soulful number takes the best elements of the original and fuses trademark rolling breakbeats and solid 808s to give an old tune a fresh touch up for 2024. This will surely end up a staple in any music lover’s collection.

Daddy’s Rating:

“Even Austin Powers isn’t as groovy as this!”
