NSFW crime narratives wrapped up neatly in an upbeat chic soundtrack: CASISDEAD’s latest single ‘Venom’ is nothing short of a gritty synth anthem with class

Single Review: Venom by CASISDEAD

For people who like…rap, synth pop, synth wave.

Sometimes even the most explicit tales of drug enterprises, criminal violence, and frivolous debauchery are best complemented by fashionable synth wave instrumentals, and classy soulful vocals. And that’s exactly what CASISDEAD’s freshest single Venom is – released as part of his 23 track album Famous Last Words.

Despite CASISDEAD bringing his usual x-rated salacious lyrical content to this fresh release, it actually serves as a very danceable, upbeat and synthy breather from the dark sounds on the rest of the album – with awesome vocal melodies provided by talented singer Dora Jar.

CASISDEAD’s style and imagery has always involved an element of Blade Runner-esq, dystopian futurism that does in fact seem to work very well with trendy synth pads and classy alt pop vocalists. So, it’s perhaps of no surprise then that Venom is the most talked about track from CASISDEAD’s latest expansive album Famous Last Words.

Some of the songs on this album are previous singles released as far back as 5 years ago – Pat Earrings, Boys Will Be Boys, and Traction Control fans will already be familiar with. This could partly be the reason why Venom is such a breath of fresh air on the album, while continuing to develop apocalyptic synth wave vibes.

As usual with CAS, he narrates an unrelenting criminal routine in such a way that both makes you appreciate his honesty, and question his lifestyle choices, and juxtaposes these lyrics with some downright cool and classy productions. This not only makes for some great authentic music, but opportunities to pair his unrestricted stories with chic arthouse style videos (such as the video for Venom below).

“Venom” is exactly what this track is, giving you catchy melodic choruses from Dora Jar and crude bars from CAS, both of which are likely to get stuck in your head for days afterwards. Rapping about some kind of messy altercation between his crazy fiancè and another female acquaintance, this is a brilliant continuation of CASISDEAD’s sex, drugs and synth- pad rolls music that’s well worth a listen!
